EFFECTIVE JAN. 1ST, 2007 ALL PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED
PANELS WILL BE OBSOLETE FOR MONITORED USE. THE SYSTEM YOU HAVE IS
"GRANDFATHERED" UNDER THE SATE OF TEXAS LAW, BUT THEY CANNOT BE
REPLACED WITH THE SAME TYPE UNIT IF THEY GO BAD.
THIS NEW TEXAS LAW REQUIRES ALL PANELS TO BE
"SIA
CP-01" CERTIFIED.
IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT COMPANY INSTALLED YOUR
PANEL.
IF IT WAS INSTALLED BEFORE JAN. 1ST, 2007 IT MAY NOT
BE A CP-01 PANEL.
THE NEW REGULATIONS ARE:
ENTRY TIME MINIMUM IS 30 SECONDS
EXIT TIME MINIMUM IS 60 SECONDS
DIALER DELAY MUST NOW BE A MINIMUM OF 30 SECONDS
BEFORE DIALING OUT TO ANY NOTIFICATION CENTER. ( I am told by a manufacture that
we can reset this.)
The product we use now is
DSC
(Digital Security Controls)
The system is used for both residential and commercial
installations. It consists of a minimum of 6 (six) zones and can be
expanded to 64 zones to individually identify the
break-in point and to alert officials of what device was activated by the break-in & 1
(one) for Panic/Hold-up. This way, the police do not go to the opposite side of the
break-in while the burglar escapes out the other side. This is done only when the system
is monitored by our contracted monitoring company,
RESPONSE CENTER U.S.A. in San Antonio, Tx. .
The system has a built in dialer that dials a 1-866 number that
alerts the monitoring company who in turn confirms the break-in and dispatches the police
as well as the responsible owners of the premises.
We use door magnets, window glass breaks, P.I.R.'s (motion
detectors), etc..
We offer
and have low rates of both the products and the installation.
WE OFFER A SYSTEM FOR YOUR HOME THAT WILL MEET & BEAT THE
REST.
SYSTEM INCLUDES:
MASTER CONTROL PANEL WITH A BACK UP BATTERY,
ONE (1) LIGHTED KEYPAD, ONE (1) INTERIOR SIREN,
TWO (2) DOOR/WINDOW CONTACTS, ONE (1) P.I.R. (MOTION
DETECTOR),
TELEPHONE HOOK-UP * WINDOW STICKERS & YARD SIGN
JUST LIKE THE OTHER BIG COMPANIES, BUT WE
ARE LOCALLY OWNED & OPERATED.
(*) Requires 3 year contract with
monitoring.

BUILDING A "NEW HOME"

WHEN YOU ARE READY FOR A SYSTEM,
EVERYTHING IS IN PLACE ! !

Which system is best for your
needs ?

With
today's growing population, neighbors not knowing each other like in years past, we find
that we must surround ourselves with keys, locks, alarms, closed circuit camera systems
and personal security devices like pepper spray, can mace, stun guns and weapons for our
protection and the protection of our family and loved ones. This article will cover two
primary types of systems.
The
"Perimeter
Protection System" & "Interior Protection System"
"PERIMETER"
Perimeter
Protection Systems give you protection on all openings into your home, including attic
trap doors. If you are looking for protection & security of your home, family and
property while either away or at home, this one will normally do the job. It protects all
openings either while asleep or just wandering the house at night. A contact and magnet
are attached to each window frame & door jamb. If you are considering an alarm
system before building your home, it is much easier, wiser (& cheaper), to have it
installed during construction. This way the door and window contacts can be recessed into
the jamb and frame to prevent detection when windows or doors are closed. If you are
considering installation after completion of the home, a wire will be slightly visible
from the top window jamb to the center of the frame to allow for the contact to be
mounted. This may sound unsightly, but most curtains cover just past the center point, so
the wire is not readily visible from the inside.
The doors
are a completely different story. The contact and magnet can be installed into the jamb
and door so that no wire is visible, (as long as there is no window arch above the door
frame and ceiling). A drill bit will allow access through the header and into the
attic for quick and easy installation. The keypads are easily mounted on most interior
walls the same way, allowing for a clean and secure job. If you definitely DO NOT want
wire showing beside your window jamb, there are also "WIRELESS SYSTEMS" that
work off radio transmitted signals that will work very well. The contacts are little more
bulkier than a regular contact, but again, drapes cover a lot of things. The wireless
system is also a higher cost, but can be used in applications larger than a hard wire
system, such as detached garages, sheds, two-story houses, or a house or building not
connected to your main structure.
"INTERIOR"
Another way is called
Interior Protection. It does just what it states, however alarm installers will request
that the doors also be protected for your safety & because you need an entry to disarm
the system without setting it off. The Interior Protection System covers your doors,
hallways and larger open rooms. This is done by the use of motion detectors (a.k.a.
P.I.R.'s = Passive Infrared Detectors). The P.I.R. picks up body heat and motion through a
small "eye" in a circuit board that detects 2 or 4 pulse signals. If the beam is
broken due to movement in the area under surveillance, it triggers the device to activate
the alarm. Needless to say, this system is NOT recommended if you have pets or plan on
arming the system while at home for complete protection. There is a button on the keypad
marked "STAY" that allows the doors to be armed, but shuts off the P.I.R.'s
allowing protection from kick-in burglars yet allows complete movement throughout the
home, however, entry through a window that is not protected leaves you vulnerable. The
Interior System may be easier to install and to work with, but it does have those
"nighttime" drawbacks.
You can "MIX-N-MATCH" by adding P.I.R.'s to your perimeter system for the
ultimate security, or add or delete items that suit your needs and conditions
Alarm systems are like VCR's, if you don't use them and get comfortable with them, don't
waste your money on them. So many VCR's across the country are still flashing 12:00
midnight, even mine, but they sit there happily under the T.V. set waiting to be fed tapes
to either manually record or play back movies. The alarm system is the same way. It will
happily sit there and await a friendly finger to tell it what to do. If and when you
should decide to get a home or business security system, be sure that you understand the
features and the proper operation of it completely, and if you are not sure, call the
installer and ask again.
